Christmas Markets
England (Manchester)
18 Nov - 21 Dec 2008
The Christmas Markets in Manchester's Albert Square, St Ann's Square and Exchange Street incorporate a traditional German Market, a European Market and an Arts and Crafts Market. The popular markets have now spread to New Cathedral Street and Brazennose Street.
The traditional German Market turns St Ann's Square into a winter wonderland with brightly-lit traditional wooden chalets packed full of unusual Christmas gifts. Don't miss the
Gluhwein stall! Elsewhere you can find French cheeses and charcuterie, Dutch plants and bulbs, Christmas trees, Belgian chocolates, homemade chutney, pickles, aromatic oils and Christmas decorations.
Look out for the
Weihnachtspyramide, a giant German Christmas pyramid with a Nativity scene, on top of the German beer tent and the magical alpine house with traditional decorations and multi-lingual, talking reindeer.
